First, here is our new coop and run. Cute, huh?? The front door opens, and that side door is for collecting eggs. We had someone make it for us. It even has window boxes and a light inside:
We got an incubator and hatched chicks for Easter. They hatched 2 days before Easter. We all had a GREAT time! Some of the chicks hatched in our hands. We just went in the bathroom, shut the door and turned on the shower to keep it hot and moist. The kids LOVED the chicks (especially Nathan and Katherine).
Out of 23 eggs, 15 hatched, and 11 lived, but one dissapeared (I think a hawk got it- and I think it was a hen-dang it!), so we have 10 chickens, 5 I think are hens and 5 I think are roosters. We can have 6 hens, so we went and bought 2 hens just a little younger than our chicks, in case one dies. We are planning on eating the roosters, but we'll see if that actually happens, especially with "Fluffy".
Here's what the chicks look like today, at 9 1/2 weeks:
This one is "Fluffy". He was the first one born and my favorite. He just happened to sadly turn out to be a rooster:(.
Also, a picture of the bunny Katherine got for Easter. We had 3 bunnies, but one died yesterday (we don't know why), and one escaped and never came back (my favorite:(). so this is the remaining bunny:
