Carlson Family Rules and Standards

Todd and I made a list of our family's rules and standards tonight. We came up with 24 rules. You think that's too much? This is hard! You don't want to be too strict... or do you? You want them to make mistakes while they are in the home, but how young, and in what way? Where do you draw the line for standards? Modesty? Sleeves or sleeveless? Why? (because they will ask that) How do you teach them to govern themselves before they leave the house?

A neighbor told me that the boys had climbed out the loft window onto the roof above the porch. Maybe that should be rule #1: no climbing out windows onto the roof.

Update: Some answers!

I think rules are a great idea. Otherwise how will your kids know? As far as sleeves go, we asked ourselves the same question and aside from swimming suits we don't let Cassie wear sleeveless anymore. I figured might as well get into the whole modesty thing right away!!!

If the worst the kids do is climb on the roof you are doing great. Wait for the day when they tell you all the things they did that you didn't know about :)
