A village in Mourning

An email from my principal this morning. The whole village is in mourning because everyone is so close here. Everyone seems to be related, and of course everyone knows each other. I stayed at my office until 11pm researching what I need to know and getting resources ready. The school counselor from the neighboring village is coming here today. She’s the counselor in this school district who has been here the longest and she knows what to do; she’s been through school crises before. I’m very grateful she is able to come. She had a lot of great advice to give to teachers so I’m learning from her. Years ago she was the school counselor here. The special Ed teacher made food for the staff and another teacher brought me dinner when she heard I was staying late at the school! The culture here is that you take care of each other and you give what you have. I love it and want to take that back with me.
