I take Manzo and Launa (my roommate’s dog) for walks while it’s sunny on the weekends. Right now it is -14 with a wind chill of -31. My roommate said that it’s supposed to get down to -50 wind chill about 6pm. She was excited and said “your first real cold!” 🤪 She used to teach on the north coast of Alaska (called the North Slope) where it regularly got to -40! The kids always walk to school regardless.
We walked to the beach where you can use the snow machine to cross the frozen ocean to cut across to the bigger village of Unalakleet
Anyone looking for a job? This is where the “honey buckets” go and someone comes around to empty them. This village got running water in 2006 but not everyone has running water, and sometimes the pipes freeze for months and then no one has running water.

I’m surprised Manzo’s fur doesn’t break!
He loves the cold! He rolls around in the snow every time he’s outside!
