wrinkly feet

Nathan put his feet with shoes on in the water. In the car on the way home, he took off his shoes and his feet were wrinkly "like a 95 year old". The boys were guessing why water wrinkles your feet. Nathan said it was because the water presses against you and makes wrinkles. Alex said it was because water goes in your sweat holes and makes tiny bumps. What do you think?

P.S. It's come....the horrible horrible pregnancy flu. The baby is the size of a poppy seed, so how can something so small take over my whole body and make me feel so horrible and so tired?

Here's what I found on the internet:
Your skin is made up of two layers. The outer layer is called the epidermis and the lower level is the dermis. The outer layer (epidermis) produces an oily substance called sebum. You can see this substance when you touch a window or mirror and your "oily" fingerprint is left there. One job sebum does is it keeps water out of your skin—a job that it does very well. However, after long periods of time in a swimming pool, shower, or bathtub, much of the sebum is washed off and your outer layer of skin starts to absorb water. As it absorbs water it swells, but since the epidermis is "tied" down to your dermis in certain spots, it expands more where it is not "tied" down and this causes your skin to wrinkle. The difference between your skin and a raisin is that raisins wrinkle because they shrink, but your skin wrinkles because it is getting bigger.

EEWWWWWWWWW, you are soooo very lucky to be "blessed" to feel just "so" with that pregnancy "flu". That is what someone close to me used to say as if we as women should just luv all of it? How do I love thee let me count the ways? Grasping the porcalin God, feeling a need to fall asleep while standing up, looking down at your belly button and watching it expand? Oh wait one/we must remember how blessed we are to be growing a spine this week:). Enjoy, Momma J

that's really interesting to find that out! i always thought it was the fact that the tub's water has more water than your body so it somehow took water out of your body, making it dehydrated and wrinkly. although i never accounted for the fact that we don't get super thirsty after a nice hot bath... hmmmm... :) sorry you feel sick, but just try to remember the face you're going to see that's going to make this sickness feel it wasn't bad at ALL!!! (and at least this is probably you're last time to feel it...) love you!
