Long Overdue

My favorite book

I got this book and thought I'd read a little before I went to bed last night. At 6:30am, I finished all 300 pages. This is definitely my favorite book (well, sharing it with Harry Potter). I like stories (books and movies) that are about the simple joys and sorrows of life. Little Women is my favorite movie, also Fried Green Tomatoes. Maybe that's also why I like to read blogs.

I finished the tutu. It's light pink toole, but it looks white in the picture. I have some ideas for some cute pictures of her in it.

THIS is why I wasn't going to do the 6 squirks thing... let me tell you about my day: First, when we were at Jumping Jacks I was sitting with Katherine on the couches with the other moms while the boys played. Another mother was sitting on the next couch and Baby Katherine was looking at her and smiled, so she said "hi" to the baby. For some reason, I said hi back, and waved at her. It was like an automatic response I guess. Then I had to say something because I felt so awkward, so I said,

"oh, I thought you were saying hi to the baby."

She said, "I was."

I said "I feel retarded" and got up and left, and got the boys and told them it was time to go because I was embarrassed.


Later, at about 8:30pm I told Todd that I wanted some alone time (just for fun, you know), so I went to Wal-Mart to puruse the Christmas isles and get some little craft things for the boys to do. Well, right now it's 1:30am and I just got home...that's about 5 hours at Wal-Mart...??? While at Wal-Mart I was looking around and then I had to pee. Ever since I had the baby, when I need to go, I need to go RIGHT THEN. So, I started crossing my legs and hopping around trying not to pee my pants like I was a 4 year old. Have you seen a 29 year old woman doing a pee pee dance in Wal-Mart?? I was hoping no one saw, because..it was pretty embarrassing. After I got that taken care of, I saw a Symphony bar...my favorite! So I took one and opened it, and ate it as I was looking around.

A little later, Todd called and told me not to buy anything (as I stuffed another bite of chocolate goodness in my mouth). Well, I had some fun craft activities (little things) in the cart, and being overly emotional lately, I started crying on the phone in the middle of Wal-Mart--tears squirting out my eyeballs, red nose, red eyes, the works. (I'm so sorry, Todd!) Well, he let me have some money to spend, so I stayed at Wal-Mart some more. Right after that, a Wal-Mart worker came up to me, she was kind of mentally handicapped, and was trying to get me to buy a baby outfit (I was in the baby clothes section just looking around). She was showing me all the different outfits. Finally, I said, "I'll get this one" and put it in my cart just so she would think I was buying it. She said "thanks" to me, like she got commission on the sale or something, and I left, but I didn't buy it.


Later, I went over to the fabric section and decided I wanted to get stuff to make a tutu for Katherine. She likes to play dress-up:). The fabric lady cut the toole for me. Then I got elastic that was in a package. I've never made a tutu before, but it seemed pretty self-explanitory, but I thought I'd try to figure it out before I left the store though, because I didn't want to have to come back to the store. So I opened the elastic package and picked up the scissors so I could kind of figure it out. The fabric lady looked at me and said, "are you going to buy that??"
I said yes.
Then she took the scissors from me and told me I couldn't use them because if I hurt myself, she could get in trouble. Well, so I went and paid for all my things, half of them opened, and went to the manager's station because I saw a pair of scissors there I could use. I got out all the fluffy toole and put it out and started making this tutu when I turned around and saw the manager looking at me like, "what the he*@???" I said,
"Oh, I guess you need this."
She said I could go to the service counter because they were closed. So I went over there and made a tutu. It was a good thing I didn't leave, because I needed to buy some more toole. While I was there, someone came up to me and asked if he could apply for a job. I guess he thought I worked there.


I am SO wierd!

So, you see, that is why it took me a while to come up with 6 quirks that were "normal" enough to post in a public place.

But, I know that you love me anyway because you are one of the sweetest individuals I have ever known! I love you!!!!

Hmmm....I think I might have made it too big for my 3 month old...

my adorable boys

Nathan spends 99% of his awake time running around the house pretend fighting and making blow up noises. Yesterday I asked what he was playing and he said he was fighting up bad guys. I asked what they looked like and he said that all the bad guys he fights are always all black except white in their pockets.




Just now Alex and Nathan were playing upstairs with Rocket (while I read blogs...I love blogs). Alex said that Rocket was a big mosquito and it bit them and they were 1,000 feet sick.

I went to the salon to get my hair done. She said you did a good job, Todd, just a little uneven.

Katherine went with me. She was so good. She just slept almost the whole time--2 1/2 hours! She wore one of her Christmas outfits--way cute!

Dear Daddy Day 2

Dear Todd,

Today I found a new talent: nursing Baby and cooking at the same time. I can't wait till you come back and make us yummy dinners! I made chicken salad but the chicken wasn't that great. We went to the store and Alex got Mickey Mouse candy canes but told us we couldn't have any until we got the fire going. We went to Salem Pond after dark (about 6pm) and made a fire. It was 40 degrees and Rocket was in the water chasing ducks...crazy dog. We needed a boy scout to help start the fire! (you'll notice in the pictures. The leaves were wet and it wouldn't light of course, so I found a big cardboard box in the trash--on the top mind you--so I just put it on top of the firewood and lit it. Unconventional but it got the firewood lit!). I hope you're learning lots of computer mumbo jumbo at your conference. Is there any good reason why they picked Las Vegas for the conference??? I love you and miss you!

The boys pretended they were Pilgrim children gathering leaves for the fire. We want to come back on Sat. with you and they are going to make Indian costumes. Alex said he's going to be Squanto and Nathan can be Chief Massasoit, Alex said.

Dear Todd,

It made me think maybe it's not good to want lots of stuff, which I do.
Yesterday Nathan saw a puzzle piece with a dark background and bright orange fish on it and he said, "These fish are brilliant!" (said, bwilleeant)
It rained yesterday and we went to Zupas and got soup. We went grocery shopping and I only had to put one thing back to be under budget. Alex helped me bring in the groceries without even asking. Alex thought it would be a good idea to watch The Santa Clause 3 on the computer and drink hot chocolate with whipped cream. We started the movie at 11:45pm. The boys both slept with me last night. I was in the middle and the boys were squished up next to me. How I wished you were here this morning to get baby when she woke up so early! This morning the boys put all their coins together and are going to get Sponge Bob mini candy canes they saw at the store yesterday and we're going to do math with them today. The boys say they hate math, but they always want to do more and more...
We went to Africa in history and I told them that one day I'll take them all over the world, even to Africa. They were SO excited but I told them it takes lots of money so it wouldn't be for a long time. Nathan said not to take them any place scary.

6 quirks--for Tawnya:)

Ok, I thought of 6 quirks that I could post in a public place:)

1. I'm a sucker for books, especially kids books. I like to read kids books:). I admit we get the Friend magazine mostly for me. Ialso recommend the Highlights magazine. "Ask Arizona" always has good advice. And I even bought some American girl books for me to read. I love reading books to the boys, too. As for adult books, get me the cliff notes. Though I do like info books, but usually I buy them and skim it instead of reading it.
2. I must ALWAYS take a shower after cleaning the bathrooms (either that or get TB and tetnus shots)
3. I like to call my parents after midnight:)
4. I hate to answer my phone but check my email a bazillion times a day. (take note)
5. Last night I dreamed I gave birth to a crocodile.
6. Todd and my Dad said that I don't think outside the box; for me, there is no box. I'm kind of wierd, really.

Nathan was having a hard time staying in his church class by himself. He was crying and I was watching from a distance. Alex went over and gave his brother a hug and said "Are you alright?" They love each other so much. They are so sweet to each other.

For Nathan's prayer at night he said, "Thank you for the storm so the flowers can grow and I can see the lightning."

I'm SO lucky!

Todd's work gave him a gift certificate to Tucanos restaurant because he worked extra hours on their backends. I went a little camera happy at the restaurant:

Back at home. Nathan took this picture. I'm so lucky--Katherine asleep snuggled with me and Alex next to me. We're watching "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Mickey's Christmas Carol" and Todd made some really nummy homemade caramel sauce and we had it on ice cream. I am so lucky I am married to such a great cook and such a great person!

Yesterday we went to the mall and with their weekly allowance, the boys got stuff for their Build-a-Bear stuffed animals "Beary" and "Rexy". Rexy got a shirt and Beary got a Santa hat.

Can you see what that gas sign says??????? $2.27!!!!!

I was just wondering, is it ok to want stuff? I don't want anything, but Katherine said she really loved these outfits we saw at the mall yesterday:

milestone

Katherine rolled over today! She's kind of before, but we've never seen her. I would go in her crib and she would be sideways, and one day I was changing her diaper on the ottoman, and I washed my hands, and came back and she was teetering off of it. All I could see was her round little diaper bum and her two little fat pudgy legs sticking up in the air. But today we caught her in the act! She hates to lay down and tries so hard to always sit up, even in her car sear, so that's how she ends up rolling over.

Haircut

My hair was SO long. I think it looks better long when it's flat ironed and curled, but my flat iron is broken and I don't have a curling iron. At night, it was still wet from my shower, it was just too long and too thick and too much hair!
