To my adult children:
Let me explain why you have an inexplicable fear of the ice cream truck.
Last week the ice cream truck went down our street. Nathan didn't even ask if he could have a treat, he just said, "We don't have enough money for ice cream!" and proceeded to throw a fit that lasted... maybe an hour. I put him in the shower, but he was still throwing a fit so I put him in his room and told him to go to sleep.
So this week I started saying that the ice cream from the truck is so much more expensive than ice cream at the store... and anyways, the ice cream truck scares me. The guy looks creepy and maybe he even kidnaps kids. I kept making these remarks through the week, and today when the ice cream truck came by, Nathan came in the house.
Yes, I'll pay for your therapy.
