soft baby hands

I just put my kids to bed.

The house is quiet.

Aaaaaa, What joy.

I was petting Katie's soft little hand to put her to sleep, when I thought of a few things I needed to do...

then I stopped.

I'll never have that little soft baby hand to touch again when she grows, she's a baby for so little time. And then before I know it she'll be out on her own. So I stopped thinking about everything else, and focused on the moment: how soft her little baby hand is, her fluffy soft hair, her cute diaper bum sticking up in the air with her little puggy legs tucked underneath.

She is growing so fast. It's fun to see how much she is learning and interacting, more and more every day. Tonight the boys were trying to read her bedtime books, but she just tried to eat and destroy the books (they are board books-- I know better than to give Destructo-Baby paper books!). When she was on my lap reading books, she took my hand, turned it over and grabbed my finger and pointed to the pictures like I do. What a smart baby! And when I grab her hand, she puts out her little pointer finger and I use it to point to pictures.

She is starting to try and say words. When she sees a dog she says "do...", and say "mo..." for more, and sometimes she'll try and say a word we try and get her to repeat. I taught her the baby signs for "more" and "music", and she used and understood them the first time I taught them to her! I play my flute for her and she likes it. She likes songs like "patty cake" and will do all the actions-- even if we don't. She's starting to stand by herself- but no steps yet. She crawls all over the place, and walks along all the furniture.

Such a sweet girl!

(Todd gets paid on Monday and I will get new batteries for the camera! I miss putting pictures on the blog!)
